According to the filtering principle, air filters can be divided into filtering type, centrifugal type, oil bath type and composite type. The air filters commonly used in engines mainly include inertia oil bath air filter, paper dry air filter, polyurethane filter element air filter, etc. Inertia oil bath air filter successively passes through three stages of inertial filtration, oil bath filtration and filter filtration, and the last two air filters are mainly filtered by filter element. Inertial oil bath air filter has the advantages of small air inlet resistance, being able to adapt to dusty and sandy working environment, and long service life. It was previously used on many types of automobile and tractor engines. However, this kind of air filter has low filtering efficiency, large weight, high cost and inconvenient maintenance, and has been gradually eliminated in automobile engines. The filter element of paper dry air filter is made of resin treated microporous filter paper. The filter paper is porous, loose, folded, has certain mechanical strength and water resistance, and has the advantages of high filtering efficiency, simple structure, light weight, low cost, convenient maintenance, etc. It is a widely used automotive air filter.
